What we do
Services across the stack
From custom hardware design to back-office software, with deep expertise in rail-spec, industrial IoT, and embedded systems.
Embedded Software Development
Bare-metal and Linux-based firmware and applications for rail-spec hardware. Full lifecycle: architecture, implementation, validation, deployment.
Learn more →Hardware Design
Custom electronic device and system design tailored to client requirements: schematic, layout, AREMA-compliant rail-spec, mass-production-ready.
Learn more →Back-Office Systems
On-premises and cloud back offices with high availability, low operational cost, and seamless integration with existing IT investments.
Learn more →Asset Tracking
Tracking solutions for mobile and fixed assets: sensors, edge devices, gateways, and the back-end that ties them together.
Learn more →IoT & Edge Computing
Real-time analytics at the edge: sensor integration, protocol translation, predictive analytics on resource-constrained devices.
Learn more →Business Intelligence
Data visualization, automation, and operational dashboards. We make field data actionable for the people who use it.
Learn more →Knorr-Bremse Signaling Certified Developer Program
We build certified applications for the WSDMM platform.
In January 2025, KB Signaling launched the WSDMM Certified Developer Program, which opened their wayside-intelligence edge-computing platform to third-party application development. WSDMM has been deployed in the thousands across North America since 2019 and is AREMA- and CENELEC-compliant.
Outlier Engineering Group builds and owns its rail software products, and is a certified developer for the program. BattTrackIQ is in production today and EventRecorderIQ is demo-ready; both are also available as KB Signaling App Partner products, validated through KBS's automated test pipeline and backed by KBS Tier-1 support.
