Partnerships and integrations.
OEG works closely with the platform vendors and integrators who define modern rail signaling and embedded systems. The KB Signaling WSDMM Certified Developer Program is the centerpiece of our product portfolio.
Featured partner
KB Signaling Wayside Intelligence
WSDMM Certified Developer Program.
Outlier Engineering Group develops certified applications for the KB Signaling Wayside Intelligence WSDMM platform.
KB Signaling (formerly Alstom Signaling North America, acquired by Knorr-Bremse in August 2024) operates the WSDMM (Wayside System Data Management Module) platform: an AREMA- and CENELEC-compliant edge-computing device that has been deployed in the thousands across North America since 2019.
In January 2025, KBS launched the WSDMM Certified Developer Program. Third-party developers commit to KBS guidelines to build value-added applications that run on WSDMM hardware and ship through the KBS sales and distribution organization. The program is built around an automated nightly test pipeline that validates each app against the rest of the WSDMM ecosystem.
Apps developed under the program are compatible with the Wayside Intelligence Update Manager, installable alongside KBS's own apps via the same tool. KBS provides Tier-1 product technical support; partner developers handle deeper escalations.
"In the rapidly evolving world of rail signaling, analytics edge solutions are only as effective as the applications they support. The value of the developer program to our customers is they can buy apps certified by KBS to run on our platform and deliver the performance they expect."
— Giampaolo Orrigo, Senior Product Manager for Wayside Intelligence, KB Signaling
Outlier Engineering Group builds and owns its rail software products, and develops certified applications for the WSDMM platform under this program. BattTrackIQ is in production today and EventRecorderIQ is demo-ready; both are available as KB Signaling App Partner products through the KBS App Store, and OEG also sells them directly. We have additional rail software on our roadmap.
These applications are covered in detail in the case studies: BattTrackIQ: Battery Monitoring for the WSDMM and EventRecorderIQ: Modern Crossing Event Recording on the WSDMM.
