SwitchGuardIQ

Switch machine health monitoring via motor current profile analysis.

Contact us about SwitchGuardIQ →

Overview

SwitchGuardIQ monitors switch machines by analyzing motor current profiles during each throw, detecting mechanical degradation, asymmetry, and changing energy signatures before failures occur. The capture path is high-resolution (1 kHz sampling) over analog current channels from supported acquisition hardware such as the KB DAU and other rail-accepted PLCs or I/O modules, and the analytics layer compares each throw against a per-direction baseline.

Switch-machine current monitoring is a well-established maintenance approach; SwitchGuardIQ is OEG's implementation of it. SwitchGuardIQ is on the OEG roadmap.

Key features

  • High-resolution current profile capture (1 kHz, via KB DAU or other rail-accepted I/O modules)
  • Baseline calibration (7-day default), per-direction tracking
  • Trend analysis: peak current, throw duration, total energy, inrush characteristics, current asymmetry
  • Predictive alerting via OLS regression (14-day default window)
  • Switch position and discrete state monitoring integrated with current analysis
